Job summary

Stichting AAP is seeking a data-driven professional to join the APL team in Almere. You will enter, maintain and report animal data, support the EU-based rescue operations, and help with logistics or outplacement when needed.

You will become proficient in ZIMS and daily admin tools such as Microsoft Office, while organizing your workload with guidance from the rescue coordinator and seeking efficiency gains.

Responsibilities

AAP (Animal Advocacy and Protection) is a European animal welfare organization dedicated to the welfare of exotic animals. It is our mission to end their suffering by rescuing animals in need and advocating for better laws and regulations.

The APL (Animal Planning & Logistics) team is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic colleague to strengthen their team. Do you want to contribute to a great future for rescued animals thanks to your data- and organizational skills? Then this is the job for you!

The APL team is responsible for the optimal flow of our animals, starting with their rescue and ending with their outplacement. Our team is in charge of animal logistics in both of our rescue centers, located in the Netherlands (Almere) and Spain (Villena). You will be based in Almere.

What will you do?

• You enter, maintain, and report animal data.
• You assist with the operations around the rescue process (mainly EU based).
• You assist with Logistics or Outplacement when necessary.
• You are the point of contact for authorities regarding animal data and official administration.
• You become an expert on animal databases such as ZIMS (zoo management system) and daily admin tools such as Microsoft Office.
• You set up your own routine, together with the rescue coordinator, and spot opportunities to make the way we work more efficiently.

• You are a data guru and can organize yourself independently. You are a master of Excel and Office in general and are excited to learn about new systems.
• You stay grounded in high pressure situations, keeping your priorities clear.
• You like your routine and enjoy keeping the records tidy, always staying on top of your game.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English, at least at C1 level (main language within AAP). Other languages such as German, Dutch, French, or Spanish are a bonus.
• You have a driver's license category B.

AAP (Animal Advocacy and Protection) is a European animal welfare organization dedicated to the welfare of exotic animals. It is our mission to end their suffering by rescuing animals in need and advocate for better laws and regulations.

AAP operates two rescue and rehabilitation facilities, one in Almere (the Netherlands) and one in Villena (Spain). We rescue animals from illegal trade, circuses or private owners and help them recover both mentally and physically. When they are rehabilitated and ready to move on, we find a good place for them with one of our outplacement partners, such as a sanctuary or suitable zoo.

In Almere we have about 100 employees and more than 200 volunteers. We work in a spacious and modern location, in the middle of the green heart of Almere. Our office and facility centre are located on the same grounds as our rescued animals. Nowhere else can you see the result of your work so directly!
