Job summary

AfterQuery is seeking literary scholars as contractors to author and grade close reading and interpretation scenarios used to test model judgment. Work is fully remote and async, with no fixed hours.

You will write reference readings grounded in textual evidence and assess model outputs for fidelity and depth. Ideal candidates hold an advanced degree in literature or related field, have 2+ years of professional literary work, and can commit at least 10 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in literature, English, comparative literature, or closely related field.
• 2+ years of teaching, research, editorial, or published literary work.
• Close reading depth across periods, genres, or traditions.
• Clear written English for documenting interpretive reasoning.
• Able to commit at least 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Author literary scenarios that test close reading and interpretation.
• Write reference readings with textual evidence behind each claim.
• Grade model output for textual fidelity, interpretive depth, and craft awareness.
• Flag readings that sound sophisticated but ignore what the text actually says.
