S&P Global Market Intelligence is seeking a Regional People Advisor to support the Netherlands, Germany, and other EMEA countries from the Amsterdam office. The role focuses on employment relations, performance management and local labor law compliance, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across site leaders and HR partners.

You will lead regional HR initiatives, provide coaching to managers, and partner with Works Councils to foster positive employee relations while ensuring policy

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of People experience with a generalist background.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch; German preferred.
  • Knowledge of NL and Germany employment law and labor regulations.
  • Familiar with Works Council processes in NL/DE.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; cross-cultural experience.
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and change.
  • Experience in employee relations matters and investigations.
  • Proficient in MS Office; HRIS tools (Workday).

Responsibilities

  • Lead HR initiatives across NL; support Germany/EMEA.
  • Deliver and manage People service with HR operations, payroll and office management.
  • Provide coaching to managers on People policies and practices.
  • Liaise with Netherlands Works Council and assist with Germany meetings.
  • Represent the company on employment matters with the legal department.
  • Monitor compliance with local labor laws and advise on risk.
  • Guide on performance management and employee relations; support terminations when needed.

About the Role

Grade Level (for internal use): 10 The Role: Regional People (HR) Advisor The Team: Join a best-in-class team of People (HR) professionals in the EMEA region, working collaboratively to provide the highest level of employee and business support. The EMEA Regional People Advisory team is a dynamic team responsible for the local implementation and operation of our global People program, practices and procedures with a focus on employee relations, performance management, retention, site management, and organizational development. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in the HR profession with room to grow and expand their knowledge in the Netherlands and Germany and across other EMEA countries. This role requires work from Amsterdam office 2 days a week or 9 days a month.

Responsibilities and Impact

Lead People Initiatives and HR Projects: Lead HR initiatives and projects across Netherlands and provide support for Germany and other EMEA countries if needed. Collaborate with people leaders, Global People Partners, Regional Partners, and site leaders to enhance People processes and employee satisfaction.

Deliver and Manage People Service: Provide seamless People service in collaboration with People operations, benefits, project teams, global mobility, payroll and office management. Ensure compliance with company policies and local labor laws.

Regional Guidance: Provide coaching to managers and employees on People policies, procedures, and best practices.

Works Council partnerships: Act as a key liaison and build a strong, collaborative partnership with the Netherlands Works Council (Ondernemingsraad) to foster positive employee relations and support organizational alignment. Work closely with Senior Regional People Advisors to develop an understanding of Works Council in Germany and act as a secondary lead for the meetings, when required.

Employment Representation: Represent the company on employment matters in collaboration with our legal department.

Compliance and Risk Assessment: Understand local labor regulations to assess risks and provide guidance; stay updated on new regulations to ensure compliance.

Advise on Performance Management: Guide people leaders on performance management and employee relations, evaluate risks, and support the execution of terminations when necessary.

What We’re Looking For
Basic Required Qualifications
  • Sound knowledge of employment law in the Netherlands and Germany, including labor regulations, compliance, and People best practices.
  • 5+ years of People experience, with a strong generalist background, particularly in a regional advisory role.
  • Business fluency in English and Dutch and ideally proficiency in German.
  • Familiarity with works council processes and regulations, particularly in the Netherlands or Germany, is highly valued.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with both leadership and employees.
  • Experience working within diverse cultural environments.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and change effectively.
  • Skilled in resolving complex People issues, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage conflict effectively.
  • Experience in navigating employee relations matters and in conducting workplace investigations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with HRIS tools - preferably Workday.

This role requires work from Amsterdam office 2 days a week or 9 days a month.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in using AI tools.
  • Experience in covering multiple EMEA countries.
