Job summary

JDE Peet’s is offering an R&D Food Safety internship in Utrecht, starting September 2026. You will help standardize and digitalize HACCP across our facility network, work with quality teams, and contribute to a globally aligned framework.

You will develop templates, evaluation tools, and training materials for a 5-month program, with 2 weeks of remote work across Europe and a monthly allowance. This is an international internship with learning from top R&D professionals.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship.
  • Strong MS Office skills and fluent English, both spoken and written.
  • Structured, energetic, with good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment of at least 5 months from Sept 2026 to Feb 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Support the global standardization and digitalization of HACCP across the JDE facility network.
  • Assess current HACCP practices and identify gaps for a globally aligned framework.
  • Contribute to development of standardized HACCP templates, decision trees, and risk tools.
  • Evaluate digital platforms and tools for HACCP documentation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with requirements and certifications.
  • Assist in creating training materials and SOPs for global rollout of the digital HACCP program.

Job description

Join us as R&D Food Safety intern at our international headquarters in Utrecht starting in September 2026.

In this internship, you will support the global standardization and digitalization of our HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) program across the JDE facility network. This project aims to harmonize HACCP process and leverage digital tools to enhance compliance and efficiency.

You will work closely with central and factory quality teams to assess current HACCP practices, identify gaps, and contribute to the development of a globally aligned and digitally enabled HACCP framework.

Your key activities will be:
  • Conduct a literature review on HACCP best practices, with a focus on biological, physical, and chemical hazard controls.
  • Support the development of standardized HACCP templates, decision trees, and risk assessment tools.
  • Contribute to the digitalization strategy by evaluating digital platforms and tools for HACCP documentation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with company requirements and certification standards.
  • Support the creation of training materials and SOPs to facilitate global rollout and adoption of the standardized digital HACCP program.

For this role as a Food Safety intern, we’re looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:

  • Academic Program: You are enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship, preferably in Food Technology/Science/Quality/Food Safety/Toxicology or related subjects.
  • Skillset: You possess strong MS Office skills and fluent proficiency in speaking and written English – Having some similar hands‑on experience with food research activities is always a benefit.
  • Personal traits: You have a structured approach, a driven and energetic personality, excellent communication and people skills, and the ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Commitment: You are ready to dedicate at least 5 months to this internship, preferably from September 2026 until February 2027
  • Availability: You can join the internship for 5 days per week, including three days in-office and one or two days remotely, ensuring an ideal balance between collaboration and independence.

  • Your educational institution is willing to sign a collaboration agreement with JDE Peet's and when joining our Research departments, also sign an NDA agreement for internships.
  • You are either an EU(EEA) student residing in the Netherlands during the internship or a Non‑EU(EEA) student enrolled and living in the Netherlands during the internship.
