Job summary

Optiver is seeking a penultimate year student in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics or a related STEM field for a Quantitative Research Internship starting in 2026. You will work with our research team to develop models that drive trading decisions, using probability, statistics and machine learning.

Over ten weeks you’ll trade on live markets with simulated capital, receive mentorship from seasoned researchers, and gain exposure to multiple desks.

Qualifications

• Penultimate year STEM student with ability to work full-time after graduation in 2027.
• Strong foundation in mathematics, probability and statistics.
• Excellent research, analytical and modelling skills.
• Proficiency in any programming language.
• Knowledge of machine learning, time-series analysis and pattern recognition is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deep dive into trading fundamentals and research projects.
• Develop trading algorithms using statistical models and ML.
• Analyse trading strategies with big data technologies to identify opportunities.
• Combine quantitative analysis with high-performance implementation for efficiency.
• Gain exposure to various trading and research desks and markets.
