Job summary

Lonza Geleen in the Netherlands seeks a QC Technical Expert – Microbiology to guide complex pharmaceutical microbiology challenges, support reliable testing and mentor colleagues on quality and compliance.

You will perform environmental monitoring and bioburden testing, coordinate microbiology activities, write and review GMP documentation, participate in audits, and help validate methods while staying current with developments in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in microbiology.
• Experience in pharmaceutical microbiology within a GMP-regulated QC environment.
• Strong practical experience with test methods across bacteria, yeasts and moulds, plus environmental monitoring, bioburden and water testing.
• Experience writing and reviewing GMP documentation with quality guidelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; audit-ready mindset.
• Clear communication and collaboration, able to advise during audits; English fluency.

Responsibilities

• Perform and support microbiological testing and environmental monitoring activities.
• Coordinate planning and execution of microbiology tasks with teams.
• Write, review and approve GMP documentation in collaboration with other departments.
• Represent QC as a microbiology expert during audits and client discussions.
• Support the implementation and validation of microbiological methods and systems.
• Stay up to date with developments in pharmaceutical microbiology and share knowledge across the department.
