Job summary

JLG Industries is offering a Purchasing Data Analytics Intern – NPD position in its Global Supply Chain Management team based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. You will gain real-world experience by supporting data-driven purchasing and cost analysis for New Product Development across EMEA.

Cost data, supplier pricing, and cost gaps will be analyzed, with reports and dashboards developed in Excel and Power BI.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Business, Data Analytics, Operations, or related field.
  • Strong Excel skills and understanding of ETL processes.
  • Familiar with Power BI, Power Query, DAX, VBA/macros.
  • Detail-oriented and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken).
  • Comfortable working with different teams and following up on actions.
  • Interested in purchasing, cost analysis, data, and new product development.

Responsibilities

  • Collect purchasing data from MAPICS and Databricks.
  • Analyze supplier quotations, current prices, target costs and differences.
  • Identify missing or incorrect data in NPD projects.
  • Create reports and dashboards showing cost gaps, quote status, and open actions.
  • Support the NPD team with data for Strategic Purchasing feedback.
  • Coordinate with Buyers, NPD and Strategic Purchasing on cost data.
  • Improve Excel files, Power BI reports, templates and tracking tools.
  • Assist cost-focused projects to enable early purchasing decisions.

At JLG, we are excited to offer you the opportunity to gain real‑world experience in Purchasing Data Analytics Intern – NPD within our Global Supply Chain Management team based in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands. This role is focused on helping us improve the way we use purchasing data during New Product Development projects within EMEA region.

Cost is becoming more and more important in the early stages of development. By having strong data support within NPD, we can better understand supplier prices, identify cost gaps earlier, and help projects start with the right cost from the beginning.

HOW WILL YOUR WEEK LOOK LIKE?
Your Weekly Tasks May Include
  • Collecting and cleaning purchasing data from internal systems such as MAPICS or global Warehouse Databricks.
  • Supporting the analysis of supplier quotations, current prices, target costs, and cost differences.
  • Helping to identify missing or incorrect data in NPD projects.
  • Creating simple reports and dashboards to show cost gaps, quote status, and open actions.
  • Supporting the NPD team with clear data so they can give feedback to Strategic Purchasing.
  • Working with Buyers, NPD, and Strategic Purchasing teams to follow up on supplier and cost information.
  • Helping improve Excel files, Power BI reports, templates, and other tracking tools. VBA/macros, DAX and POWERQUERY (will be a plus)
  • Supporting cost‑focused projects so that we can make better purchasing decisions earlier in the NPD process.
Your background

We are looking for students who bring curiosity, structure, and analytical thinking to the table:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Business, Data Analytics, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong skills in Excel, and understanding of Data ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) process
  • Familiar with Power BI, Power Query, DAX, VBA/macros, or ETL processes — this is a plus, not a must
  • Detail‑oriented, structured, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken); other European languages are a plus
  • Comfortable working with different teams and following up on open actions.
  • Strong sense of initiative, ownership, and collaboration
  • Interested in purchasing, cost analysis, data, and new product development.
