Leiden University’s Institute of Public Administration in The Hague invites applications for two Assistant Professor positions in Public Administration. You will conduct research, teach in bachelor and master programmes, supervise theses, and pursue external funding within a vibrant academic community.

We seek a PhD in Public Administration or closely related fields, with an English publication track and willingness to relocate to the Netherlands.

Qualifications

PhD completed in Public Administration or closely related field.
Clear research agenda with potential for scholarly contribution in public administration/policy.
Publications in international journals or potential to publish.
Experience with university teaching; a teaching qualification (BKO) or willingness to obtain within two years.
Team player with experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and societal engagement.
Willingness to relocate to the Netherlands; Dutch language exposure to reach C1 level within two years.

Responsibilities

Initiate and conduct an independent research program in public administration and governance.
Teach courses in bachelor and master programmes in Public Administration.
Supervise bachelor’s, master’s and potentially PhD theses.
Apply for external research funding (e.g. NWO, ERC, Horizon Europe).
Contribute to organisational and management tasks within the institute.
Participate in national and international academic research networks.
Collaborate with societal stakeholders in knowledge exchange and impact activities.
