Job description

As a Prototype & Test Lab Technician, you will support the development of new products by ensuring prototype activities are carried out efficiently and accurately. You will help prepare materials, perform dimensional inspections and assemble prototypes according to technical specifications.

Working closely with Engineering, Purchasing and Quality, you will help ensure that materials, components and prototypes are available at the right time, allowing prototype builds and validation activities to run smoothly.

About the company

Based in Arnhem, we develop advanced suspension systems for the automotive and industrial sectors. We offer the best of both worlds: the backing of a global group combined with the atmosphere of a small and agile organization. Our team of approximately 45 colleagues works in an informal environment with short lines of communication, where collaboration and technical expertise are key. We work closely together, with and for each other, while contributing to projects with international impact.

Your responsibilities
Logistics & Material Handling (approximately 40%)

A significant part of your role will focus on managing the flow of materials within the prototype area. You will ensure incoming and outgoing materials are correctly registered, traceable and available for prototype builds.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing incoming and outgoing materials within the prototype area.
  • Registering incoming materials in the internal system.
  • Ensuring proper tracking and traceability of components.
  • Coordinating with the Purchasing department regarding material availability and delivery timelines.
  • Preparing and organizing materials for prototype builds and cross-department usage.
Measurement & Inspection (approximately 30%)

Before components are used in prototype builds, you will verify that they meet the required specifications by performing dimensional inspections using various measuring equipment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Performing dimensional measurements on prototype components.
  • Using measuring equipment such as calipers, CMM and other metrology tools.
  • Verifying components against technical drawings and specifications.
  • Reporting any deviations or out-of-tolerance conditions.
Prototype Assembly (approximately 30%)

You will also support the assembly of prototypes and ensure they meet the required technical standards before they are released for further testing or validation.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Assembling prototypes according to technical requirements.
  • Performing technical operations such as crimping and component assembly.
  • Conducting End-of-Line (EOL) inspections.
  • Validating prototypes before release.

In this role, you will work closely with several departments across the organization, including:

  • Engineering and project teams.
  • Purchasing.
  • Quality.
  • Prototype requestors.

You will also support problem-solving activities related to technical issues, defects and measurement deviations identified during prototype activities.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a practical technical environment and has an accurate and organized way of working.

Ideally, you have:

  • Hbo/ BSc Automotive or similar direction
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to read technical drawings.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers and preferably a CMM.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to work effectively with different departments.
