Job summary

DSV is seeking a Project Specialist in Rotterdam to coordinate complex, time-critical shipments for an oil and gas client. You’ll act as the main link between customers, carriers, and internal teams, ensuring on-time delivery and compliant documentation.

You will plan routes, secure capacity, compare rates, and handle customs processing, always taking ownership of delays or issues to provide solutions. Growth and international collaboration are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in air and/or ocean freight, including breakbulk shipments.
• Knowledge of Incoterms is a must; knowledge of customs regulations is a plus.
• Experience with CargoWise or a TMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate transportation by ocean, air, road and rail, working with carriers, customers, customs and warehouses.
• Request and compare freight rates, book capacity and arrange pickups/deliveries.
• Monitor shipments and proactively inform the customer.
• Prepare and check transport and customs documents (B/Ls, AWBs, packing lists, invoices, manifests).
• Identify, escalate and resolve exceptions and operational issues.
• Ensure compliance and manage dangerous goods requirements where applicable.

Ready for more responsibility and a new challenge? As an experienced Freight Forwarder or Air & Ocean Freight Forwarder, you will be dedicated to one of our larger customers in the international oil and gas industry. You will coordinate complex, time-critical shipments where downtime is not an option. Make an impact in Rotterdam.

You are the key link between customers, carriers and internal teams. You coordinate transportation, monitor shipments, ensure documentation and compliance are in order, and step in whenever needed. You keep things on track and make sure every shipment runs smoothly: You’re on it.

How you do this? You keep a clear overview, act quickly and make sure everyone involved knows what is expected. You plan routes and transit times, arrange transport capacity and request and compare freight rates. You also prepare transport documentation, coordinate customs formalities and ensure compliance with applicable import and export regulations. When delays, damage or other challenges arise, you take ownership and make sure the right solution is found. You achieve this by:

• coordinating transport by ocean, air, road and rail, working closely with carriers, our customer, customs and warehouses;
• requesting and comparing freight rates and transport solutions, booking capacity and arranging pickups and deliveries;
• monitoring shipments and proactively keeping our customer informed;
• preparing and checking transport and customs documentation, including B/Ls, AWBs, packing lists, invoices and manifests;
• quickly identifying, escalating and resolving exceptions and operational issues;
• ensuring compliance and, where applicable, managing requirements related to dangerous goods.

You bring

• several years of experience in air and/or ocean freight, including breakbulk shipments, for example as a Freight Forwarder, Expediter or Project Specialist;
• knowledge of Incoterms is a must, knowledge of customs regulations is a plus;
• experience with CargoWise or a TMS is a plus;
• strong problem-solving and negotiation skills;
• an energetic and proactive attitude, a strong sense of ownership, and a clear focus on achieving the highest possible level of customer satisfaction.
