Job summary

Van Oord in Rotterdam is seeking a Project Purchaser to manage the operational procurement of technical materials and services for global projects. You will collaborate with project teams, Transport, and Finance, reporting to the PSC Operation Lead in Head Office.

The role requires proactive problem solving, English proficiency, and willingness to travel to project sites (primarily UAE). It offers a challenging international environment and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Secondary vocational education with 4+ years experience, or HBO with 1+ year, preferably technical/maritime.
• Strong English skills, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Procure a variety of materials and services for projects during prep and execution.
• Handle RFQ, offers, and purchase orders efficiently and on time.
• Provide global PO admin support and track open POs.
• Maintain and distribute purchasing registers.
• Expedite RFQs, orders, and overdue deliveries.
• Support global P2P performance improvements.
• Provide purchasing system support to offices and projects.

Job description

THE POSITION

As a Project Purchaser you will be responsible for the operational procurement of mainly technical materials & services and fulfilment of these orders for our global projects. You will work closely with project team, Transport department and the finance department. In this role you will report to the Team Manager Project Procurement DRI.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Project Purchaser, you will bridge the gap between innovation and commercial reality. Your daily breakthroughs will directly influence our bottom line and global project success.

In Summary, Your Responsibilities Include

• Procuring a big variety of materials & services required by the projects in the preparation and execution phase.
• Dealing with quotation requests, offers, and purchase orders efficiently and on time.
• Global PO admin support & distribution and follow up on open PO’s
• Maintaining and distribution of purchasing registers.
• Negotiating prices and conditions and Follow up on invoicing of delivered goods.
• Taking action in the event of incorrect deliveries or damaged or defective deliveries, etc..
• Expediting RFQ’s, orders and overdue deliveries.
• Support with the global P2P performance improvement.
• Provide offices and projects with the needed (basic) technical support of the purchasing systems.

About You

We are looking for a stress-resistant person who wants to act as initiator and contact person for improvement projects. Within the Purchasing Department, you proactively take up proposals for improvement of the organisation, processes and methods.

In addition, you should have

• Completed secondary vocational education with at least 4 years of experience or a higher professional education with at least 1 year of experience, preferably within a technical / maritime environment;
• Good command of the English language, both verbally and in writing;
• Excellent communication skills, you are persuasive and result oriented;
• A hands-on, service-oriented mentality and you take ownership;
• Willingness to travel and visit projects (mainly in UAE) on an occasional basis;
• Knowledge of Logistics and Incoterms is an advantage.
