Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in the Netherlands is seeking a Project Manager - Industrial Automation to own end-to-end delivery of automation projects in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, leading a team of ~30 across Bioreactors, Utilities and Building Management Systems.

You will work with Siemens PLC, Emerson DeltaV and Honeywell HC-900, manage stakeholders, drive GMP compliance and risk management, and deliver projects on time and within budget while upholding Capgemini's quality

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a dedicated Project Management role in technical environments.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation platforms and GMP context.
• Experience in regulated pharmaceuticals or life sciences.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of automation projects within scope, time, and budget.
• Act as primary contact between client automation department, Capgemini Engineering teams and third-party contractors.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues; develop contingency plans.
• Drive GMP compliance across project activities and support validation activities where required.
• Coordinate and motivate a cross-functional team of engineers and specialists, managing workload and resources.

What you’ll be working on as Project Manager - Industrial Automation

As a Project Manager within the client's automation department, you will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of automation projects in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. You will lead a diverse team of approximately 30 professionals, working across Bioreactors, Utilities, and Building Management Systems, leveraging automation platforms including Siemens PLC, Emerson DeltaV, and Honeywell HC-900. In this role you will play a key role in:

• Leading project delivery end-to-end – Planning, executing, monitoring, and closing automation projects within scope, time, and budget, ensuring alignment with both client expectations and Capgemini Engineering's quality standards.
• Stakeholder management & communication – Acting as the primary point of contact between the client's automation department, internal Capgemini Engineering teams, and third-party contractors, ensuring clear, consistent, and transparent communication across all levels.
• Risk & issue management – Proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and issues, developing contingency plans to keep projects on track in a complex, regulated industrial environment.
• Driving GMP compliance – Ensuring all project activities are carried out in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines and applicable pharmaceutical industry regulations, supporting validation and qualification activities where required.
• Team coordination & leadership – Coordinating and motivating a cross‑functional team of engineers and specialists, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing project culture while managing workload distribution and resource planning.

Your profile

We are looking for a seasoned Project Manager with a strong technical background and a passion for delivering results in complex, regulated environments. You bring both the leadership skills to guide diverse teams and the technical credibility to earn the trust of engineers and specialists. You bring:

• Proven project management expertise – Professional experience in technical environments, with at least 3 years in a dedicated Project Management role, and a recognised PM certification such as PMP or equivalent.
• Industrial automation knowledge – A solid understanding of industrial automation systems and environments, with familiarity with platforms such as Siemens PLC, Emerson DeltaV, or Honeywell HC-900 being a strong advantage.
• Pharmaceutical or GMP experience – Experience working in a regulated industry, ideally pharmaceuticals or life sciences, with working knowledge of GMP requirements and their implications for project delivery.
• Strong leadership & stakeholder skills – Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage diverse stakeholders, and communicate effectively at all levels of an organisation, from engineers to senior client management.

What we offer

A gross salary between €3.500 and €5.500 per month, including a mobility allowance of €850 and 8% holiday allowance (based on a 40‑hour workweek). 26 vacation days.
