Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in the Netherlands seeks a Senior Java Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable digital solutions for clients across industries. You will work across Java backend with Spring Boot or Quarkus and front-end with Angular/TypeScript, delivering secure, reliable software in a cloud-native, instrumented environment.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong track record in distributed systems and cloud-native apps.
• Deep Java expertise with Spring Boot or Quarkus.
• Proven experience building production-ready enterprise apps with Angular/TypeScript.
• Experience with cloud architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, observability tooling and production troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with AI-powered coding assistants is a plus.

What you’ll be working on as a senior Java engineer

As a senior Java Engineer, you will design, build and maintain scalable digital solutions for leading organisations across multiple industries, such as Defense, Energy and High Tech. You will work across the full technology stack, combining robust Java backend services with modern Angular front-end applications. Together with multidisciplinary teams, you will create secure, reliable and user-centred software that delivers tangible value for our clients.

• Design, build and maintain scalable, high-performance full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot or Quarkus, Angular and TypeScript.
• Develop production-ready front-end applications with Angular and TypeScript, ensuring seamless integration with Java-based backend services through REST and asynchronous APIs.
• Shape cloud-native and event-driven solutions using Docker and Kubernetes, and strengthen production reliability with OpenTelemetry, Grafana and Prometheus.
• Apply Domain-Driven Design, SOLID principles and Clean Architecture to deliver maintainable and resilient software, while using AI-powered coding assistants responsibly to accelerate development.
• Collaborate in an agile, international environment through architecture discussions, pair programming, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Your Profile

You have: At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong track record in distributed systems, cloud-native applications and full-stack delivery. Deep Java expertise and hands-on experience with Spring Boot or Quarkus, database modelling, API design and modern software engineering practices such as Domain-Driven Design, SOLID principles and Clean Architecture. Proven professional experience building production-ready enterprise applications with Angular and TypeScript. Angular is a core requirement for this role and is essential alongside strong Java backend expertise. Practical experience with cloud architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, observability tooling and production troubleshooting; experience with event-driven architectures is an advantage. Daily hands-on experience with AI-powered coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor or Gemini, combined with a collaborative, pragmatic and growth-oriented mindset. Experience with additional languages such as Node.js, Python or Golang is an advantage. You're curious about AI and know when to apply it to create meaningful customer value

What we offer

• A gross salary between € 4.000,- to € 5.300,- euro per month, plus a mobility allowance of € 800,- and 8% holiday allowance (based on a 40-hour workweek).
