Job summary

APM Terminals in The Hague is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the Asset Management (AM) and Business Implementation (BIM) portfolio. This role requires a minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering and AM disciplines, preferably in transport and logistics.

The successful candidate will monitor equipment budgets, develop project strategies, and integrate new businesses into APM Terminals, driving a culture of continuous improvement.

APM Terminals Project Manager – AM Implementation

APM Terminals is a global leader in port and terminal operations, driving sustainable growth by continuously improving daily operations. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the Asset Management (AM) and Business Implementation (BIM) portfolio.

Location: The Hague, Netherlands (short‑term travel may be required)

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and coordinate all equipment under the AM and BIM portfolio.
  • Work closely with global Asset Management, Engineering, Automation teams and disciplines to implement all equipment and AM standards per APMT established processes.
  • Liaise with relevant shareholder HQ functional departments and challenge requirements for AM set‑up, ensuring fit‑for‑purpose asset maintenance solutions during project scope and value engineering.
  • Develop and co‑own detailed budget, schedule, risk and overall AM project implementation plan for new projects, including strategies, mitigations and response plans for risks and reassessing project value when needed.
  • Support and drive AM activities for integration projects and ensure newly acquired businesses are well integrated into APM Terminals.
  • Review and build maintenance and reliability requirements, check BOQs and participate in stakeholder management to embed costs, risk and performance into requirements (EGRs).
  • Act as the first line of corporate support to projects with challenges across all AM areas, including TCOs covering CapEx and OpEx, reviewing supplier proposals and developing high‑quality summaries for leadership decision‑making.
  • Collaborate closely with APMT technical and engineering functions for alignment during business case building and implementation.
  • Monitor equipment budgets and change requests in projects, assess delays and report corrective measures.
  • Apply a hands‑on GEMBA approach and Lean mindset to understand and solve problems in collaboration with terminals and functional subject‑matter experts.
  • Participate in equipment procurement, represent AM, visit manufacturing sites as needed, and maintain relationships with major suppliers to minimize delays.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an engineering and AM discipline in leadership roles, preferably in transport and logistics.
  • Solid project management experience in a real‑time environment (logistics, shipping, etc.) with exposure to project controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of heavy equipment due diligence, maintenance, reliability, construction and start‑ups.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics for non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong knowledge in professional programs (MS Office, IFS/BI systems).
  • Engineering degree or port equipment maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated customer focus, integrity, continuous improvement mindset and people‑leadership skills.
