Job summary

Value Maritime, based in Rotterdam, is seeking a hands-on Project & Finance Controller to bridge projects, operations and the finance team. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting and project controlling in a growing, scale-up environment.

You will work with project managers to monitor performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear financial insights. The team includes CFO and Finance staff, with room to shape the position as processes evolve.

Qualifications

• Approx. 5 years of relevant experience in finance, controlling, FP&A or project controlling.
• Education in Finance, Accounting, Finance & Control or similar.
• Strong analytical and financial skills with attention to detail.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Interest in project-based financial control and profitability.
• Structured, pragmatic and hands-on approach with proactive mindset.
• Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
• Professional English; Dutch is a plus.

• Monitor project performance against budget, including costs, margins and cash flow.

The Role

As Project & Finance Controller, you will be an important link between our projects, operations and finance team.

We are growing, our projects are becoming more complex, and we are further professionalising the way we plan, budget and control our business. We are looking for a broad financial professional who enjoys working with numbers but also wants to understand what is behind the numbers.

Your main focus will be budgeting, project controlling, forecasting and financial planning. You will work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to monitor project performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear financial insights.

You will also contribute to the wider finance function, including OPEX control, cash flow forecasting, reporting and improving our financial processes and systems.

This is a new role, with plenty of room to shape the position and make it your own.

Your Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain project budgets and financial forecasts with project managers
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, reporting and controls
• Monitor project performance against budget, including costs, margins and cash flow
• Support project managers in understanding the financial impact of their decisions
• Set up and support the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle
• Prepare and maintain OPEX budgets and forecasts
• Contribute to cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
• Analyse actuals versus budget and forecast and translate these into clear insights
• Support the finalisation and optimisation of our ERP migration

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on financial professional with approximately 5 years of relevant experience in finance, controlling, FP&A, project controlling or a similar role.

You have:

• A relevant education in Finance, Accounting, Finance & Control, Business or similar
• +-5 years of professional work experience in a Finance role
• Strong analytical and financial skills, with an eye for detail
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• An interest in project-based financial control and project profitability
• A structured, pragmatic and hands-on approach, combined with a proactive mindset
• Experience with finance and ERP systems; Preferrably Microsoft Dynamics
• Professional working proficiency in English; Dutch is a plus

The Finance Team

You will join a growing finance team consisting of a CFO, Finance Controller Manager, Finance Administrator and you. Your role sits in the middle: connecting financial data and control with projects, planning and the wider business.
