Job description

ChainCraft is on a mission to make chemistry circular. Through proprietary fermentation technology, we convert agrifood residues into high-performance biobased fatty acids, replacing fossil and palm-based inputs across industries ranging from personal care and animal nutrition to industrial lubricants and food & fragrance.

We are in an active scale-up phase. A new production facility is in development, funding rounds are in motion and our position in circular chemistry is gaining ground. That growth places real demands on our finance organization.

Your role

You report directly to the Finance Manager and work closely with the CFO, the Project Controller and the Finance Administrator. You take over a substantial part of the work from the current interim controller, who will hand over to you. From day one, you're right in the middle of a finance organization that is very much still taking shape.

Key responsibilities:

  • Subsidy management:you manage and monitor ongoing subsidy projects. You track the organization’s time registration and out-of-pocket expenses against the allocated budget under each subsidy, flag where adjustments are needed and keep actuals on course.
  • Financial closing and reporting:you take care of timely, reliable monthly, quarterly and annual closings. Also preparing the annual account together with our external accountant demands a lot of time and attention, from preparation through to answering questions from internal stakeholders and shareholders. In the coming year(s), ESG- and Impact reporting will start to play a more important role, and you will have the opportunity to help set this up.
  • ERP implementation:the new ERP system needs to go live by the end of 2027. You contribute to setting up the finance processes within it, from time registration, sales and procurement to inventory management, production and the fixed assets module.
  • Becoming audit ready:you take an active role in strengthening our financial processes and controls, ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, well-documented and fully audit ready.
  • Process improvement:Roughly half of your time is spent on the activities mentioned above and other ad hoc Finance projects and issues related to process ownership, like for example automating recurring tasks and setting up new workflows.
About you

You have gained your first experience in a production environment, or completed a traineeship within one, and are now ready to take your second or third career step in a smaller-scale organization where your impact is directly visible. Or you are currently working at an accountancy firm and find that you'd rather become part of the story behind the numbers than keep checking it from a distance.

Affinity with a production environment is a strong plus, whether that comes from hands-on experience or from having audited manufacturing companies on a regular basis. You're tech savvy, strong in Excel and have a solid grounding in financial systems. Experience with Exact Online is a nice plus. You're comfortable reading and writing in both Dutch and English. It doesn't matter to us which one is your native language, what matters is that you can operate confidently in both, since our financial administration and stakeholder communication run in a mix of the two.

This is a role for the long term. A great deal is going to happen within finance at ChainCraft over the coming years, and you're someone who wants to help build it from the ground up and grow into a more senior, specialized (Finance / Business Control) or management role while doing so.

Additionally, you bring:

  • A completed bachelor's or master’s degree in Finance, Business Economics, Accountancy or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in financial control, accountancy or a similar role.
  • Strong Excel skills and an interest in systems, data and automation.
  • Strong reading and writing skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Experience in a production environment, built through work experience, or through advisory-/auditing practice.
We offer

You join an organization in the middle of its growth phase, with proven technology, a growing customer base and a mission that matters. From day one you get real responsibility and visibility within an experienced management team, and a direct role in projects that will shape the organization for years to come.

  • A fulltime position (36 hours a week can be discussed)
  • Salary between €3.500 and €5.000 gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience.
  • 8% holiday allowance, 29 vacation days and a solid pension plan.
  • Participation in the ChainCraft Stock Appreciation Rights program.
  • Travel allowance, including for cycling or walking.
  • Flexible working arrangements with a minimum of three days per week at our Amsterdam office.
