Are you two to four years into advisory, banking or Big 4 and ready to own projects rather than support them? I am recruiting a Project Finance Associate for an independent power producer that develops, finances and operates solar and battery storage (BESS) projects in the Netherlands. They hold their assets rather than selling them on, so the financing decisions you make stay with the business. This is a chance to step out of a deal team and into a seat where the projects are yours.

Responsibilities

• Build and run the financial models used to appraise, structure and refinance solar and BESS projects.
• Take projects through the final stages to financial close alongside the team.
• Work through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other project contracts, comparing terms and supporting the negotiation.
• Work with banks and utilities on project and balance-sheet financing, from term sheet through to close.
• Structure financing for battery storage additions to existing projects, working around the facilities already in place.
• Sit in front of banks, offtakers and advisers, taking on more of those conversations as you settle in.

Qualifications

• Dutch at a level where you can negotiate and read documentation in it, plus strong English.
• Around three years in project finance, infrastructure or transaction advisory, corporate finance, or a finance role inside a renewable energy business.
• Real Excel modelling ability, including models you built yourself rather than maintained.
• Experience of Dutch renewable assets, with an understanding of how SDE++ and grid connection terms feed into a financing case. Solar, wind, storage or another technology all work, and battery experience is not required.
• Willingness to read contracts properly and to flag when a term changes the numbers.
• Comfort working without a review layer above you, and the judgement to know what to escalat.
• An interest in project development, with the flexibility to take on development-side work as the team grows.
• Salary: Around €70,000 depending on experience.
• Ownership from month one: Your own projects rather than a workstream inside someone else's deal, and direct contact with lenders at a stage where most people in your position are still preparing the pack.
