Job summary

Leiden University's Institute of Psychology seeks a professor to lead research in social decision-making, teaching across undergraduate and graduate programs, and take on governance roles within the SEO unit.

You will foster Open Science, Team Science, and interdisciplinary collaboration, guiding strategic directions and strengthening societal impact through policy and practice partnerships.

Qualifications

• Lead your own research programme with demonstrable scientific and societal impact within social and/or economic psychology.
• Apply a connective leadership style that fosters an inclusive, reflective, psychologically safe work environment.
• Strong track record of scientific publications and proven ability to secure external research funding.
• Experience in academic leadership, governance tasks, and building national/international collaborations.
• Willingness to obtain University Teaching Qualification (BKO) if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-quality research programme with broad societal relevance and drive strategic research development for the SEO unit.
• Actively secure external funding, supervise PhD candidates, and support colleagues in research skills.
• Develop and deliver high-quality teaching in Psychology bachelor/master programs and shape teaching program development.
• Take on governance and leadership roles within the section, institute, faculty, and/or university.
