Job summary

BYD Europe BV in Schiedam, Netherlands, seeks a Product & Project Engineer to ensure E-bus and E-truck products meet EU and MEA market requirements. The role focuses on analyzing features, regulatory alignment, and developing localized strategies across Europe.

Reporting to the Product Management Section Manager, you will review regulations, investigate customer needs, and contribute to product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical or related).
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in Engineering or Product Management.
• Knowledge of renewable energy industry preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work in a global environment on high-tech products.

Responsibilities

• Define core indicators for European E-bus and E-truck products.
• Halt the project if the product does not comply with EU regulations or market demand.
• Escalate product issues to Section Manager or Department Manager.
• Develop localization strategies for BYD E-bus and E-trucks in Europe.
• Participate in design evaluations with proposals and alternative solutions.
• Develop localization solutions for E-bus and E-trucks.
• Evaluate E-truck technical solutions and new technologies.

About the role: Product Engineer-(commercial vehicles) Ensure E-bus and E-truck products in the EU or MEA can successfully launch and meet customer and EU or MEA markets' requirements.

Reports to: Product Management Section Manager.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform in-depth analysis of the technical features and functions of European bus and trucks to support the development and research of new BYD truck models and related technologies.
• Review emerging regulations, integrate applicable standards, and establish implementation guidelines for bus and truck products.
• Investigate customer requirements and develop technical solutions to meet their needs.
• Develop localized product development strategies for BYD E-bus and E-trucks in the European market.
• Participate in design evaluations by presenting design proposals and discussing and assessing alternative design solutions.
• Develop localization solutions for E-bus and E-trucks.
• Evaluate E-truck technical solutions, new technologies, and support new product management.
• Conduct competitive analysis of E-bus and E-truck products.

Main duties:

Define the core indicators for European E-bus and E-truck products. Halt the project if the product does not comply with EU regulations or market demand. Escalate product issues to Section Manager or Department Manager.

Requirements & competencies:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in Engineering or Product Management. Knowledge of the renewable energy industry is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to work in a global environment across the design, development, production, and evolution of high-tech products.
• Strong analytical and systematic thinking skills, demonstrating sound judgment and effective problem-solving abilities.
