Job summary

The Vegetarian Butcher Collective is seeking a Product Developer for our Holten location to shape the future of plant-based products. You will lead development projects, from formulation to production, and work closely with QA, Supply Chain and Sales to ensure market success.

You will stay current with ingredients and processing trends, apply a hands-on mindset, and communicate clear technical insights to stakeholders across functions. Join our international, impact-driven team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in product development within the food industry, including formulation development and scaling products from concept to production.
• Knowledge of and experience with Texturized Vegetable Proteins (TVP) and/or meat processing technologies is considered a strong advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a hands-on mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both spoken and written.
• A proactive attitude with the ability to independently drive projects and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Experience building effective relationships with customers, suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Are you ready to help shape the future of plant-based food? We are looking for a Product Developer for our location in Holten, where you will play a key role in developing and improving our plant-based products. Working closely with our manufacturing teams, you will be actively involved in development activities that take place at our production facility.

What you'll be responsible for:

As a Product Developer, you are responsible for both planning and executing a wide range of product development projects. From formulation development and pilot trials to industrial implementation, you have the technical expertise and practical experience to successfully guide projects from concept to launch.

• You stay up to date with developments in ingredients, raw materials, processing technologies and relevant legislation, applying this knowledge to perform product development activities and deliver high-quality products that meet customer and consumer requirements.
• You work closely with internal stakeholders, such as QA, Supply Chain, Processing, Sales, and Product Management, to successfully deliver projects. You are able to communicate technical insights clearly and effectively. You are comfortable presenting project outcomes, leading internal meetings, and making recommendations to customers.
• Beyond project delivery, you actively contribute to strengthening our R&D capabilities. You identify opportunities for continuous improvement, support the development of best practices and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

What you'll bring:
