About Skytree

Skytree enables a transition to a world with cleaner air for everyone. We develop and deploy smart technology that captures atmospheric carbon dioxide, enabling its use or storage to combat climate change and aid society and businesses around the world.
Born out of the European Space Agency (ESA), we are a global team of highly talented scientists, engineers and business professionals, supported by an experienced management team. Our working culture is based on a dynamic and smart approach to business with an open and understanding attitude to others and a desire to expand the boundaries of what is possible.

Procurement Lead

Your role
As our Procurement Lead, you will be a crucial, hands‑on leader within our Supply Chain organization, reporting directly to the VP of Operations. You will build the critical procurement foundations required to support our rapid innovation and New Product Introduction (NPI) pipeline.
This is a "player‑coach" role for a leader who thrives in the dynamic and often ambiguous environment of a growing tech company. Your primary focus will be to personally drive the tactical execution of our procurement activities to enable mass manufacturing of our Stratus machine by 2H 2026, while leading and mentoring a team of four procurement professionals. You will establish the core processes, build the initial supply chain, and ensure we are set up for future success.
You will take ownership of building our Approved Vendor List (AVL) from the ground up, developing a robust Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) model, and creating sourcing strategies for all key component classes. You will work as a key partner to the Engineering and Product teams, embedding procurement early in the design process to de‑risk the supply chain and hit our cost targets for new technologies. This role is central to ensuring our innovative products are ready for production on ambitious timelines.

What We’re Looking For
  • Extensive hands‑on experience in procurement within high‑tech production companies (machines/equipment) involving complex Bills of Materials.
  • Proven, demonstrable experience leading procurement activities through the New Product Introduction (NPI) and initial ramp‑up phases of the product lifecycle. You must be adept at navigating the ambiguity and fast pace of an early‑stage/growth‑stage company.
  • A pragmatic and tactical operator who can think strategically; you are comfortable building processes and tools from scratch while simultaneously managing daily operational demands.
  • Deep expertise in strategic sourcing for new technologies, supplier qualification, and category management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing complex commercial agreements with suppliers, covering terms, quality, and performance.
  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s (HBO) degree in Engineering, Business Economics, Purchasing, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence effectively across all levels of the organization.
What You Can Expect
  • A unique start‑up environment offering organic professional and personal growth at one of the most innovative cleantech companies in Amsterdam!
  • A diverse (38+ nationalities) and fun team to work with.
  • Travel cost reimbursement (choose from an NS business card, lease bike, or 23c p/km travel allowance).
  • Recharge with 25 vacation days, plus a little extra when life throws something special your way.
  • Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid work, with the option to work from home once a week.
  • A vibrant office close to the Science Park train station (5 minute walk!), as well as close to the highway.
  • Access to the Science Park and Amsterdam University cafeterias (and all the great and healthy meal options).
  • Enjoy a free lunch every Thursday, with Skytree picking up the bill, and stick around for after‑work office drinks.
  • Fun activities, organised by our very own Champagne Committee (e.g. a cooking class or Canal Adventures at the heart of the city centre).
  • Stay fueled with tasty fruits and snacks – because work should be enjoyable too!

Note: we can offer work permit / visa sponsorship for exceptional candidates. We, however, currently do not offer a relocation package / remuneration in case you would need to move to The Netherlands for this position. Thanks for your understanding.
