Job summary

ASMPT ALSI is seeking a Principal Optomechanical Engineer to lead advanced optomechanical developments for high-precision semiconductor packaging machines. You will drive alignment, vision, and inspection solutions, balancing accuracy with throughput while collaborating across Beuningen, Asia, and Europe.

You will work with global engineering teams, design and test modules, and ensure production readiness. Fluency in English is essential, Dutch a plus, and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

  • MSc in a relevant technical field (e.g., Optomechanics, Optical Engineering).
  • 10+ years of experience in optomechanical developments for high-tech machine building, ideally in semiconductor industry.
  • Proven expertise in optical design (e.g., Zemax), CAD software, and FEM analysis.
  • Experience with high-precision industrial machine design, including metrology and alignment systems.
  • Multidisciplinary thinker with strong communication skills, capable of collaborating across mechatronics and real-time control.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative optomechanical concepts for alignment, vision, and inspection systems in Advanced Packaging machines.
  • Collaborate with domain experts to conduct simulations and optimize machine performance.
  • Design and realize optomechanical machine modules in partnership with external engineering teams.
  • Lead testing and integration of prototypes and initial production series, ensuring performance specifications are met.
  • Address challenges related to balancing accuracy and throughput in optical alignment strategies.
  • Make critical decisions on optical system parameters to optimize performance within spatial constraints.
  • Collaborate with global teams across Beuningen, Singapore, and Hong Kong to drive cutting-edge semiconductor solutions.
  • Engage with internal teams and external partners to leverage expertise and enhance project outcomes.
  • Occasional international travel to collaborate with product development centres in Asia and development partners in Europe.

As a Principal Optomechanical Engineer at ASMPT, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionizing the semiconductor industry through Advanced Packaging technology. This innovative technology enables ultra-precise integration of semiconductor dies for cost-effective, high-performance designs. At ASMPT, we are at the forefront of developing next-generation Advanced Packaging machines that meet demanding placement accuracy and throughput requirements.

In this role, you will focus on developing cutting‑edge optics and optomechanical solutions for machine alignment, vision systems, and inspection processes. You will balance individual technical contributions with collaboration across various domains, driving breakthrough designs in semiconductor equipment.

Key Responsibilities

THIS IS YOU
