Are you the colleague we are seeking to join ISH Primary?
The International School of The Hague (ISH) is a diverse and internationally minded learning community of approximately 550 students aged 4–11. As part of the Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation, ISH Primary shares a beautiful campus with ISH Secondary in Kijkduin, The Hague.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, relational and reflective Primary Physical Education (PE) Teacher to join our team from 3 January 2027 on a temporary basis to provide maternity cover, (with a possibility of an earlier start).
This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is passionate about physical education and understands the important role that movement, wellbeing, teamwork and physical literacy play in a child’s development. You will teach PE across the full primary age range, creating inclusive and engaging learning experiences that enable every student to develop confidence, competence and a positive relationship with physical activity.
As an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school, we view PE as an integral part of a child’s learning and development. We are therefore looking for a teacher who can move beyond a purely skills-based approach to physical education and create meaningful, inquiry-driven learning experiences that encourage students to think, reflect, collaborate, problem-solve and take increasing ownership of their learning.

- Permission to live and work in the European Union (EU passport or valid Dutch work visa)

- Strong knowledge of age-appropriate physical development, physical literacy and PE pedagogy
- Experience with, or a good understanding of, inquiry-based and concept-driven learning; experience with the IB PYP framework is an advantage
- The ability to design engaging PE experiences that develop physical skills alongside collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving
- Experience differentiating learning to accommodate a wide range of physical abilities, learning needs and levels of confidence
- A strong commitment to inclusive practice and ensuring that all students can participate meaningfully and experience success
- Effective organisation, classroom and behaviour management skills within both indoor and outdoor learning environments
