Job description

Cognito Amsterdam is looking for a PR Consultant with experience or a strong interest in the financial and/or tech sector. With a few years of experience, you know which journalists to approach and have mastered the art of pitching stories. You have a nose for news and can come up with the right angles to help our clients get noticed. Dutch is a plus, but not a requirement; you speak and write excellent English.

What will you do?

You’ll work closely with clients and colleagues, being responsible for coordinating and managing various PR accounts. From new business pitches, drafting budgets, and defining deliverables to writing press releases, pitching interviews, and reporting results—you ensure that all work is delivered on time, within budget, and up to Cognito\'s standards.

Beyond client work, you\'ll contribute to Cognito\'s growth in the Netherlands and internationally. This includes our own PR and marketing, as well as strategic thinking: Where are the opportunities? What can we improve operationally? How should we respond to trends like AI? And of course, we celebrate our wins—from a new publication or client to Friday drinks and our legendary team outings.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily client relationships across a diverse mix of projects and retainers
• Create and refine PR and communications strategies for clients—become their go-to advisor
• Draft proposals and manage budgets
• Build relationships with journalists, influencers, and publishers in the financial, tech, and business media
• Write media materials including briefings, press releases, and pitches
• Proactively pitch clients for commentary, bylines, and opinion pieces
• Coordinate media interviews for clients
• Monitor, analyze, and report on client and industry-related news
• Keep colleagues in Amsterdam and other Cognito offices aligned and up-to-date

Requirements:

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
• Relevant and demonstrable work experience (3–5 years) that shows you\'re ready to handle the responsibilities of a PR Account Manager
• Knowledge of the Dutch media landscape
• You have working experience at a PR or communications agency
• You speak and write excellent English. Dutch is a plus, and any other language is a bonus.
• Knowledge of the financial sector is a plus
