Job description

Overview

SkyNRG Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

Shape the story of sustainable aviation: drive our reputation and inspire confidence as we make sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) the new standard.

About the role

You’ll be the key driver of SkyNRG’s public narrative, leading PR and communications both externally and internally. Your expertise in media relations, content development, and strategic messaging will help us scale our impact and transition from agency-led PR to a strong in-house capability.

Your collaborative spirit will be crucial as you partner with team members across marketing & communications, events, leadership, and sustainability teams — as well as journalists and industry stakeholders. In this role, you’ll be a trusted business ally for our executives and a vital contributor to SkyNRG’s growth and visibility.

Success in this role means that within 6–12 months, you will have established new media connections, secured high-quality coverage, successfully set up key media events and milestones, and helped position our executives as thought leaders in the aviation sustainability space.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as the first point of contact for media inquiries and building strong journalist relationships.
  • Drafting and distributing press releases, op-eds, and media statements.
  • Supporting leadership with thought-leadership content, speeches, and interviews.
  • Overseeing the newsroom/press section of the website and developing media kits and fact sheets.
  • Running internal communications (newsletters, town halls, leadership updates).
  • Coordinating with our events team to ensure media presence at key milestones and industry events.
  • Supporting crisis communication readiness and maintaining a crisis playbook.
  • Tracking PR effectiveness and media sentiment, providing insights and reporting against KPIs.
  • Managing award applications and recognition programs.
  • Monitoring competitor communications and sector news to keep our team informed.
Your profile

We’re looking for a team player who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to make an impact in our growing Marketing team. The ideal candidate should have:

Must-Haves
  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field.
  • You bring 6–8 years of experience in PR and corporate communications, preferably in international and sustainability-focused companies.
  • You have a proven track record of building journalist relationships and securing earned media.
  • You are skilled in both external storytelling and internal communications.
  • You are proactive, collaborative, and comfortable advising senior leadership.
  • You have excellent writing and editing skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
  • You are motivated by sustainability and innovation in aviation.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Existing network in aviation, energy, or sustainability media.
  • Experience with crisis communications.
  • Analytical mindset with experience measuring comms performance.

*Studies have shown that women and members of minority groups are less likely to apply for a job unless they meet every single requirement. If you\'re excited about this role but your experience doesn\'t align perfectly with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace.

What we offer
  • 30 paid holidays + 2 extra days for choosing sustainable travel options for your holidays
  • Participation in the Employee Participation Plan (EPP) – giving you the opportunity to become a shareholder and share in the company’s success
  • €5,000 dedicated budget every 3 years for professional development
  • Commuting travel reimbursement (1st class public transport or kilometer allowance) + Lease a Bike plan
  • Work at a B Corp in the city center of Amsterdam
  • Flexible working arrangements: hybrid in-office/remote
  • Access to our electric company boat (also for private use), free delicious lunches, and social activities all part of the deal!
