Job summary

Maastricht University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join CARIM to investigate mesenchymal cell metabolism and vascular ageing. The project is funded by NWO VICI and aims to identify targets to reset fibroblast function and combat cardiovascular disease.

You will work in the Pathology department, collaborate with Prof. Sluimer, and use multi-omics, RNA and metabolic analyses in human and murine samples, with opportunities to teach and present at conferences.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biology, Health Sciences or Medicine.
• Demonstrable research experience in cardiovascular research and related topics.
• Ability to independently perform metabolism assays, small animal models and/or myography.
• Experience with flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and/or bioinformatics is an advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and perform experiments on fibroblast metabolism and function.
• Design, plan and perform experiments with small animal models to study vascular ageing.
• Communicate results at conferences and in publications.
• Contribute to teaching activities for BSc/MSc students.
• Analyse datasets (single-cell sequencing) if applicable.
