Job summary

Radboud University Medical Center (Radboudumc) in Nijmegen seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance dynamic organ-on-chip systems for in vitro bone tissue models. Qualifications

• PhD in biomedical engineering, (bio)mechanical or chemical engineering, applied physics, materials science, (bio)chemistry, cell biology, or a related field.
• Candidates nearing completion of their PhD are encouraged to apply if defense date is after start.
• Strong expertise in organ-on-chip, microfluidics, 3D cell culture or hydrogel design with interest to broaden to other areas.
• Track record of first-author publications in international journals.
• Excellent written and spoken English and ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Adapt, optimize, and operate a patent-pending organ-on-chip platform for long-term 3D cell culture.
• Integrate responsive biomaterials into the platform and evaluate cytocompatibility.
• Differentiate stem cells into osteogenic cells and establish human in vitro bone tissue models.
• Characterize cellular and tissue responses using multiscale analytics including confocal microscopy, gene expression analysis, and histology.
• Validate bone tissue models using established bone therapeutics.
• Disseminate findings through publications and presentations at international conferences.
• Co-supervise students and contribute to lab organization.
• Engage with industrial partners and translate technology toward preclinical applications.
