Job summary

Utrecht University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to model phosphorus dynamics in sinking marine snow within the PHOSFLUX project. You will build a reactive-transport model for CaCO3 dissolution, organic matter degradation, and PO4 incorporation, testing against field and laboratory data in collaboration with the PHOSFLUX team.

The position, based in the Department of Earth Sciences, offers 1.0 FTE for 36 months, a gross monthly salary between €3.706 and €5.760, 8% holiday

Qualifications

• PhD in Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biology or related field.
• Experience in biogeochemistry and marine research is desirable.
• Experience in numerical modelling of mineral-water interactions and organic matter degradation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Model P dynamics in sinking and deposited marine snow.
• Create a reactive-transport model including CaCO3 dissolution and PO4 incorporation.
• Test model against field and lab data in collaboration with PHOSFLUX team.
