Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) invites applications for a temporary researcher to deploy detailed models of coupled ocean and sea-ice processes and develop parameterizations for climate models.

The project, ERC ICE-FLOE, involves LES and DEM approaches, validation against measurements, and collaboration with TU Delft teams and international partners. There may be an opportunity to participate in an Antarctic research cruise.

Qualifications

• PhD in oceanography, cryospheric science, climate science or atmospheric science.
• Experience with Large Eddy Simulations and turbulence research is advantageous.
• Interest in solid/fluid mechanics.
• Ability to start January–March 2027 and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Deploy detailed models of coupled ocean/sea ice processes and probe turbulent interactions.
• Develop parameterizations for global climate models.
• Validate results against in-situ and remote sensing data; possible Antarctica cruise.
