Job summary

TU Delft is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to validate a single-camera markerless motion capture system for home-based monitoring of motor impairments in stroke and Parkinson's disease. Measurements span lab, patients' homes, and site visits to Leuven, Belgium as part of the Care is coming home consortium.

You will work with clinicians and patients in a multidisciplinary team. The role requires a PhD in a relevant field, strong coding skills, and experience with gait analysis and motion

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience with musculoskeletal modelling and motion capture.
  • Programming skills in Python or MATLAB.
  • Experience with patient measurements preferred.
  • Fluent English; Dutch or additional languages seen as a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the accuracy of markerless outcome measures against marker-based 3D motion capture and musculoskeletal modelling in stroke and Parkinson’s patients.
  • Use musculoskeletal modelling to compare markerless and marker-based estimates and assess biomechanical plausibility.
  • Evaluate validity and acceptability of home measurements with patients, caregivers and clinicians.
  • Generate biomechanically realistic synthetic movement data from simulations to train markerless models.
  • Design and conduct home measurements with the single-camera prototype and compare with lab measurements.
  • Contribute to clinician-facing visualization with privacy‑by‑design protections.
