Leiden University’s LIACS invites applications for a Scientific Programmer / Post-Doctoral Researcher on Project Hippocampus: The Future of OpenML in Leiden. You will redesign and advance the OpenML platform, building accessible APIs and user-friendly interfaces for researchers.

You will join a cross-university team with opportunities to travel to conferences, contribute to open-source leadership, and grow toward independent research leadership within the OpenML community.

Qualifications

• The ability to work in a larger engineering team.
• Experience with complex web-based code bases.
• Demonstrable experience with machine learning software and platforms (such as OpenML, scikit-learn, scipy).

Responsibilities

• Optimize accessibility for all experience levels via elegant APIs and intuitive interfaces.
• Definition and development of agentic (user)interfaces to OpenML.
• Contribute to OpenMLs’ federated position ensuring seamless integration with data/compute infra.
• Contribute to the OpenML codebase and platform by improving maintainability and reviewing community code.
