Job summary

Leiden University in the Netherlands is seeking a Scientific Programmer/Research Engineer for the OpenML project. This is a four-year funded position based in Leiden, Netherlands, working with a team of researchers on one of the most widely used open platforms in machine learning research.

You will develop APIs, define interfaces, and contribute to OpenML’s federated architecture, while collaborating with Hum, HuggingFace, and DataVerse.

Responsibilities

• Developing elegant APIs and intuitive interfaces for OpenML
• Defining and building agentic interfaces to OpenML
• Strengthening OpenML’s federated position and integrating with infrastructure like HuggingFace and DataVerse
• Improving the OpenML codebase and reviewing contributions from the global community
