Job summary

Avery Dennison invites a motivated intern to join our small, dynamic team at the pilot plant in Leiden, Netherlands. This on-site role offers hands‑on experience in scaling up innovative technologies, focusing on inline viscosity measurement and optimizing inline mixing of thickening agents.

The position starts on 01.03.2027 for a minimum of 6 months, with a 5‑day work week. The intern will run pilot-scale trials, analyze data, support new product development, and collaborate with our European

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Fluency in English is required.
Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Competence in working with statistical software like Minitab or SPSS (preferred).

Responsibilities

Execute trials on pilot-scale equipment to identify technical constraints and optimize the performance of multilayer coating setups.
Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data using statistical methodologies.
Support new product development by aligning process capabilities with product functionality and performance requirements.
Establish methods for evaluating layer thickness and homogeneity.
Perform analytical testing techniques, such as confocal Raman spectroscopy or SEM (preferred).
