Job summary

THORIZON is building a molten salt reactor pilot programme across multiple locations in the Netherlands and Belgium. This role leads the operational readiness of Pilot laboratories, from engineering delivery through FAT, commissioning and startup to ongoing operation and decommissioning.

You will implement consistent standards, recruit and qualify operators, and drive safety, quality and learning as enablers of speed.

Qualifications

Experience managing operations in a regulated or industrial environment.
Experience translating technical plans into operational reality.
Lab or experimental environment experience is a plus.
Structured planning, budgeting, reporting and follow-up.
Ability to anticipate risks and communicate them clearly.
Familiarity with quality and problem-solving methodologies.
Proficiency with Office 365 and collaboration tools.
English fluency; Dutch or French is a plus.

Responsibilities

Own the operational lifecycle of Pilot systems from engineering delivery to decommissioning.
Act as project manager for engineering deliveries ensuring compliance before operation.
Build operating frameworks, SOPs, and protocols per international standards.
Develop and lead the operations team, including qualification of operators.
Own budgeting, planning and delivery of experiments within resources.
Integrate safety, quality and regulatory compliance into daily operations.
Ensure reliability of the experimental programme with maintenance and readiness measures.
Coordinate external partners and suppliers with clear interfaces.
Report progress, risks, deviations and results to management clearly.
Capture learnings and turn them into improved systems and practices.
