Overview

We are searching for a back-end developer who is a result-driven, critical-thinker that enjoys diving into complexities. The role is part of a growing team that developed the first easy‑to‑access trading platform for SMEs compliant to European Emissions Allowances (EUAs). The back‑end developer will build features with user impact, maintain the codebase, collaborate with various stakeholders, and ensure the scalability and performance of our systems to support business growth. The ideal candidate has a passion for solving technical challenges, and a collaborative mindset to work closely with product managers, front‑end developers, and other stakeholders.

Job requirements

A minimum of 5‑year experience in developing large‑scale web applications.
Experience in Object‑Oriented Programming – we are using PHP but we welcome engineers using other languages.
Experience with frameworks such as Laravel and Symfony.
Strong understanding of business logic and the ability to translate it into working code.
Great communication skills and a proven past of working effectively with different stakeholders.

Your skills and experiences

Many years of working experience and excellent knowledge of PHP, good knowledge of Linux, understanding of containers and cloud solutions.
Team player, open to collaboration, ability to work in distributed teams and lead developers.
Ability to take ownership of a task until its completion and solve complex problems, rather than just coding or testing.
Experience working with agile development practices, with a good knowledge of tools to facilitate agile delivery such as Git.
Designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and systems that support AFS Energy’s internal teams.
