Maastricht University invites applications for a PhD Candidate in Explainable AI and Foundation Models for CT Imaging. You will conduct research on explainable AI and diffusion-model-based approaches, and contribute to training and evaluation of foundation models for CT images.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in AI/CS/Biomedical Engineering, Medical Image Analysis, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or related field.
• Strong background in ML/DL, including model development, training and evaluation for image analysis tasks.
• Proficiency in Python for ML experiments and ability to reproduce results.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a four-year doctoral research project leading to a PhD thesis.
• Develop and evaluate novel methods for explainable AI in medical imaging, focusing on diffusion models.
• Design, train, adapt and externally validate foundation models for CT images.
