Job summary

Maastricht University invites applications for a PhD Candidate position in Supramolecular Hydrogels for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. You will design, synthesize and characterize polymers with tailored properties to connect molecular design with material performance for bioengineering applications, including 3D cell culture and bioprinting.

Join the BioMatt group within MERLN’s IBE department, an international, interdisciplinary team pursuing translational research.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Organic or Polymer Chemistry and related field.
  • Experience with multi-step synthesis and purification.
  • Experience with polymer characterization methods (NMR, GPC, rheology) desirable.
  • Strong written and spoken English; ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new synthetic routes for supramolecular polymers.
  • Characterize structure-property relationships using analytical techniques.
  • Engineer dynamic hydrogel systems with tailorable properties.
  • Design hydrogels for injectable, 3D printable, and patternable materials.
