Job summary

Maastricht University offers a fully funded PhD position in supramolecular hydrogels for biomaterials and tissue engineering. You will synthesize and characterize polymers, connecting molecular design with material properties for biomedical applications.

The project is based in the BioMatt group at MERLN/IBE with international collaboration, focusing on dynamic materials for 3D cell culture and bioprinting. Start is flexible; course of research spans several years.

Qualifications

  • MSc or equivalent in a relevant field; strong English.
  • Experience in multi-step synthesis and purification.
  • Experience with polymer/small molecule characterization.
  • Interest in biomaterials and bioengineering.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new routes for supramolecular polymers.
  • Characterize structure–property relationships using advanced analytics.
  • Engineer dynamic hydrogel systems with tailorable properties.
  • Design hydrogels for injectable, 3D printable materials.
