Job summary

Marlin Selection is seeking a senior finance professional in the Netherlands to lead financial accounting and closing processes. The role requires seven years of related experience and a deep understanding of IFRS, Dutch GAAP and Belgian GAAP, with strong analytical and communication skills in English and Dutch.

You will strengthen internal controls, support audits, and contribute to statutory financial statements while collaborating with international teams on transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics required.
• At least seven years' experience in financial accounting, financial control or audit.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Dutch GAAP and Belgian GAAP is essential.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills; fluent in English and Dutch.

• Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of trading results and financial transactions during closing periods.
• Maintain strong financial controls and support audits; prepare statutory financial statements.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Ensuring trading results and financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled during monthly, quarterly and annual closing periods, while preparing accounting analyses and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintaining strong financial controls, supporting internal and external audits, and contributing to the preparation and review of statutory financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards.
• Identifying control weaknesses and opportunities to improve accounting processes, while contributing to finance transformation, automation and continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with international stakeholders.

Experience Required

You will need to have the following experience:

• A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics, with at least seven years' relevant experience in financial accounting, financial control or audit.
• Strong hands‑on experience with month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing processes, statutory financial statements and external audits, alongside a solid understanding of IFRS, Dutch GAAP and Belgian GAAP.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills, with fluency in both English and Dutch. Knowledge of derivative accounting, commodity trading environments, financial controls and corporate tax accounting would be advantageous.
