People Risk & Compliance Specialist

Location: Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

Are you passionate about embedding strong governance, risk management, and compliance practices within HR and Payroll operations? We’re looking for a People Risk & Compliance Specialist to help shape and safeguard our global People processes.

In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for ensuring HR and Payroll activities are compliant, well‑controlled, and aligned with both internal policies and external regulations. You’ll collaborate cross‑functionally with HR, Payroll, Legal, Finance, and Risk teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks, while driving process efficiency and maturity.

What you’ll be doing:

• Embed risk awareness and compliance into global HR and Payroll processes
• Monitor key controls for SOX, GDPR, labour law, and internal policy compliance
• Identify process/control gaps and lead mitigation efforts
• Support control owners with testing and execution guidance
• Review and improve operational processes: hiring, onboarding, payroll, benefits, offboarding
• Partner with global/regional teams to ensure local regulatory alignment
• Drive process maturity through data‑informed assessments and improvements

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Business Administration, HR, Risk Management, or related field
• Professional certifications (e.g., CIA, CPA, CISA) are a plus
• Strong understanding of global HR/payroll operations and compliance frameworks (SOX, GDPR)
• Ability to translate operational risks into business impact and practical solutions
• Proactive, independent, and skilled at building cross‑functional relationships
• Comfortable navigating dynamic environments and influencing at multiple levels
