Job description

Land Life builds and manages high-integrity reforestation projects for businesses that are serious about their climate commitments. We work with large corporates navigating net-zero targets, nature strategies, and the growing pressure to back up sustainability claims with real-world impact. Our projects span multiple continents, and so does our team.

About the role

Our People team is small and dynamic - we’re on the floor with managers and colleagues, guiding their thinking so they get the best from their teams and each other, and ensuring everything we do upholds the culture that makes Land Life a preferred place to work in our ecosystem.

We’re looking for someone to help us strengthen the team for the next 6 months as we adapt our existing support structures and systems to new growth, and ensure everything is working together well to create a great employee experience across our 3 offices in Amsterdam, Iberia (Burgos) and Australia. We manage the full HR cycle, from hiring and onboarding new talent, to ensuring managers have everything in place to ensure their teams are focused, trained and rewarded well. The diversity of the role, the flat structure of our company, and the culture of the People team means there will be plenty of opportunity to learn about HR strategy, people development and HR business partnering, as you build and maintain the foundation we need to scale into those initiatives. Our current infrastructure and systems are effective, all we need now is to refine them and make sure everything is working well, so that we can focus on the initiatives that will drive business results.

We’d be looking to you to:
  • Ensure our HR systems (HRIS, bridging software), supplier systems and our internal processes are optimised and updated, and work together to help us surface and analyse how our people are doing and understand what we need to act on: engagement surveys, performance reviews, and insights from daily conversations
  • Own and optimise the tools we use to ensure our people are familiar with our ways of doing and being, like our new employee onboarding, weekly learning slots and our employee handbooks
  • Co-ordinate the payroll, systems onboarding and offboarding tasks efficiently so there’s more time to spend in conversation, and maintain strong communication with the Finance team on all processes we’re joint stakeholders to (like expense policies and payroll procedures)
  • Help us create an office environment in Amsterdam that makes people feel safe and cared for: a simple structure for health & safety, and our in-office experience.

Job requirements
  • We’re looking for someone who is people-first and builds trust quickly by being reliable and detail-oriented. You’d know how to be professional in an informal environment, work independently in a collaborative environment, and understand when to align, when to challenge and when to ask for help.
  • 2-3- years’ experience in a role where you’ve been the operational backbone of a People team, combined with an interest in furthering your career in HR/People
  • A good working understanding of payroll, onboarding and offboarding processes, and familiarity with HRIS (we use Personio) and HR-related systems and portals.
  • 2-3- years’ experience in a role where you’ve been the operational backbone of a People team, combined with a desire to build a career in a People role
  • A strong understanding of Dutch labor law is essential, and working experience with Australian labor law would be advantageous
  • Proficiency in verbal and written business English
What we’re offering

This role would be based out of our Amsterdam office, close to the Oosterpark. We have a hybrid working policy but the nature of this role lends itself to being on site more often, and when you’re in you can expect daily lunches, a great working culture and a weekly workout with the team. This is a great growth opportunity for someone looking to expand their exposure to all aspects of HR.
