Job description

Operations Manager – O&M Cable Project

We are looking for an Operations Manager specialized in O&M cable project to join the Team Project Engineering – Cable & Survey of our client. The team consists of four people: two project managers and two technical specialists (one focused on cables and one on surveys). The team is responsible for managing all cables in the Dutch North Sea.

  • You will be deployed to maintain, test and bury (if not deep enough) cables.
  • You must also have experience with EU tenders and the contracts arising from them.
  • You must be proficient in Dutch. Communication is important, including with Rijkswaterstaat (the Dutch Directorate‑General for Public Works and Water Management).
Role & Responsibilities

You will be responsible for managing complex maintenance and repair projects for Grid Field Operations Offshore department, covering our offshore grid connection systems in the Netherlands. Throughout the entire project, you will be responsible for managing safety, budget, quality, and time constraints.

  • Lead and coordinate an interdisciplinary project team while managing the interfaces with our stakeholders, in particular the close collaboration with our grid connection operators and the involvement of the technical specialists who plan the maintenance activities necessary for the safe operation of our assets.
  • Draw up repair and maintenance plans, project reports, change requests and decision proposals that you present to authorities, project sponsors and steering groups.
  • Involve yourself in risk management by identifying risks, analysing their impact and implementing mitigation plans.
  • Ensure permit compliance during the new construction and operational phases, liaising with licensing authorities regarding maintenance plans, specifications, project requirements and contract content, and ensuring that the technical documentation meets the requirements.
Profile & Experience Required
  • Academic working and thinking level and a relevant university degree. Alternatively, you have a comparable qualification.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrable professional work experience as a project manager of complex HV offshore projects involving cable installation, repair and reburial; knowledge of offshore survey operations on ships and familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS. Good knowledge of geosciences.
  • Valid project management certification, ideally IPMA D, PMP or higher.
  • Fluent in English and excellent command of Dutch.
  • Suitability for offshore work according to the AWMF standard is required and will be examined by our company doctor. Independent, proactive, pragmatic, flexible, and a pioneer, with the ability to work in a team and in a changing environment. Strong communication skills.
Other Information
  • Preference for 40 hours per week, possibly open for 32 hours per week.
  • Location: Arnhem Rijnpoort (once a week, fixed day is Wednesday).
