Job summary

Clear. is seeking a practical, accurate Setting Out Engineer to support the delivery of complex construction projects, including data centres, in the Netherlands. You will translate approved construction drawings, coordinated BIM information and survey data into precise positions, levels and alignments on site.

The role covers civil, structural and architectural works and interfaces with MEP systems. This hands-on role requires taking ownership of accuracy, on-site work, and proactively

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Land Surveying or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' setting-out or site engineering on large-scale projects.
• Experience operating robotic total stations and digital levelling equipment (Leica/Trimble/Topcon).
• Ability to interpret drawings and BIM information using AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or similar.
• Strong understanding of tolerances, survey control, CSA/MEP interfaces.
• Excellent written and spoken English; Dutch or another European language is a plus.
• VCA-VOL certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, gridlines and levels.
• Set out foundations, structural elements, slabs, walls, openings and penetrations.
• Operate robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS, digital levels and laser equipment to meet tolerances.
• Interpret construction drawings and BIM information for field implementation.
• Conduct setting-out checks and pre-pour inspections; verify anchor bolts and openings.
• Complete as-built surveys and report deviations or clashes.
• Coordinate with site teams and subcontractors on setting-out requirements.
• Maintain traceable survey records and quality documentation.
• Raise RFIs/technical queries to avoid unapproved design changes on site.
• Plan and perform all setting-out activities safely according to method statements.
