Job summary

DSJ Global is seeking an experienced ocean freight professional in Rotterdam to own import and export shipments from start to finish. You will coordinate with customers, carriers, customs specialists and overseas agents to ensure efficient service delivery.

You will monitor shipments, prepare and review transport documents, maintain records, and build strong relationships with customers and suppliers while contributing to profitability targets.

Qualifications

• MBO or HBO education in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport, or International Trade.
• Several years of experience in ocean freight forwarding, freight management, or international logistics.
• Strong understanding of import/export processes and shipping documentation.
• Familiarity with customs procedures and compliance requirements.
• Experience with transport management systems; CargoWise experience is a must.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Commercial mindset with strong customer focus.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Manage international ocean freight shipments from A to Z, ensuring smooth and timely execution of both import and export movements.
• Coordinate with customers, shipping lines, carriers, customs specialists, and overseas agents to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Monitor shipment progress, proactively resolve delays and operational issues, and keep customers informed throughout the process.
• Prepare, review, and process transport and customs documentation while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and procedures.
• Maintain accurate shipment, costing, and invoicing records within the transport management system.
• Build strong customer and supplier relationships, acting as a primary contact for operational questions, escalations, and service-related matters.
• Monitor profitability on shipments, manage job costing, and contribute to achieving operational and financial performance targets.
