Job summary

Return, a leading European independent energy storage provider headquartered in Amsterdam, seeks an OCC operator to ensure safe, reliable 24/7 operations of battery energy storage assets across Europe. This hands-on role involves shift work, alarm response, incident coordination, and stakeholder reporting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in 24/7 control rooms or operational environments, a strong safety mindset, fluent Dutch and English, and SCADA/remote monitoring familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, reliable 24/7 operations of all Return BESS assets across Europe.
• Participate in shift rotations to maintain continuous coverage.
• Act as first point of contact during incidents and coordinate responses.
• Produce and share insightful reports with stakeholders.
• Contribute to team knowledge through training and documentation.

To support our continued growth and ensure 24/7 operational excellence, we are looking for an Operations and Control Center (OCC) operator.

Your Role

As OCC operator, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable 24/7 operations of our battery energy storage assets across Europe. This is a hands‑on operational role where you will work shifts. Major responsibilities include:

• Safe Operations: ensure safe, reliable operations of all Return BESS assets, responding to alarms, incidents, and deviations according to established protocols
• Shift Work: participate in the shift rotation to maintain 24/7 coverage
• Incident Response: act as first point of contact during critical incidents, coordinating response efforts and communication with stakeholders
• Reporting: provide insight to different stakeholders through reporting
• Knowledge Building: help build operational knowledge within the team through training, documentation, and sharing of learnings

Your Profile

General Profile

• Strong safety mindset
• MBO level of thinking
• 5+ years of 24/7 experience in control rooms, technical operations, or process operations
• Calm under pressure with clear decision‑making abilities during incidents
• Clear communicator in both Dutch and English (written and verbal)
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and remote monitoring platforms
• Willing to work in shift rotation including nights and weekends
• You must have the right to work in the Netherlands without employer sponsorship
• You must be based in or willing to relocate to the Netherlands (no relocation provided)

Nice to Haves

• Experience with BESS, power plants, substations, or other energy infrastructure
• Working proficiency in Spanish and/or German
• Basic understanding of energy markets and grid operations
