Job summary

Monks is hiring a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and cloud infrastructure. You will work on data cleansing, modeling, and warehousing while interfacing with data science and marketing analytics teams.

The Netherlands-based role requires a Dutch native speaker and a strong foundation in cloud environments, APIs, and ETL processes. You will contribute to AI-driven marketing innovations at Monks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, data engineering, or related field.
• Associate Cloud Certification such as GCP Cloud Architect, Data Engineer, ML Engineer or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with API authentication (OAuth, API keys) and debugging API challenges.
• Strong understanding of data structures, databases, and data modeling concepts.
• Familiarity with dbt or Dataform for data modeling.
• Experience with data warehousing and ETL with Redshift or BigQuery.
• Knowledge of data privacy principles.
• Fluent English communication and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop data pipelines across AWS and GCP.
• Automate end-to-end ETL processes for data integration and transformation.
• Design and implement data models and data warehouses.
• Create data transformation recipes to structure raw data.
• Maintain documentation for data models, architecture diagrams, schemas, and metadata.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure timely data availability.
• Collaborate with the data science team to integrate ML models and Gen‑AI applications.
• Communicate progress and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrate strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, work independently or in a team.
