Job summary

The University of Groningen invites applications for an analyst in the Nanomedicine & Drug Targeting (NDT) unit. The role focuses on synthesizing and in vitro testing of new constructs based on nanoparticles and/or proteins within multidisciplinary projects.

Work includes chemical coupling to carriers, extensive analytical work (NMR, WB), and coordinating with students and PhD researchers in a dynamic academic setting in Groningen.

Qualifications

• Education at master’s level in a relevant field (organic chemistry, biomedical techniques)
• Demonstrable laboratory research experience and ability to develop new methods
• Good oral and written English and Dutch communication skills
• Independent, flexible, initiative-rich and structured approach
• Able to work in an interdisciplinary, academic, international environment
• Team-oriented attitude

Responsibilities

• Synthesize and purify new constructs based on nanoparticles and proteins
• Couple receptor ligands to proteins and drug carriers
• Analyze and characterize synthesized products (NMR, WB, etc.)
• Culture cells and perform molecular biology techniques (western blots, qPCR, FACS)
• Perform measurements and analyses according to protocols and report results
• Assist and supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s students in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
• Assist PhD students with research activities
• Develop, implement and validate new methods
• Manage and maintain laboratory facilities and stock
• Contribute to the organization of the NDT laboratory
