Job summary

Optimist International Academy (OIA) is seeking an MYP Integrated Science Teacher to join our Secondary team from January 2027. This role is connected to Haarlemmermeer Lyceum Tweetalig, supported by Dunamare Onderwijs and Floreer.

You will teach MYP 1 and MYP 2, design engaging science units, assess using MYP criteria, and collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development within an international context.

Qualifications

• IB MYP experience or strong science background and eagerness to learn.
• Excellent English proficiency; knowledge of Dutch not required.

Responsibilities

• Teach MYP 1 and MYP 2 (Group 8 equivalents) with class sizes 10–20.
• Design and deliver engaging MYP science units.
• Assess student learning using MYP criteria.
• Collaborate on curriculum development and interdisciplinary learning.

Optimist International Academy (OIA) is looking for an MYP Integrated Science Teacher to join our Secondary team from January 2027.

OIA brings together the established Optimist International School and the developing international secondary provision at Haarlemmermeer Lyceum Tweetalig, supported by Floreer and Dunamare Onderwijs.

In August 2026, we began the inaugural year of our International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP). This is an exciting opportunity to join us at an early stage and contribute to the further development of our international secondary school.

Due to maternity leave, we are looking for an MYP Integrated Science Teacher (from 1 January until the end of the school year)

As an MYP Integrated Science Teacher, you will:

• teach MYP 1 (equivalent to Group 8 in the Dutch education system) and MYP 2 (equivalent to the first year of Dutch secondary school). Classes consist of between 10 and 20 students.
• design and deliver engaging MYP Science units;
• assess student learning using MYP criteria;
• collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary learning;
• contribute to student support and the wider development of our growing MYP programme.

The Haarlemmermeer Lyceum Tweetalig has a modern, fully equipped science laboratory, which OIA students can use on a weekly basis.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a qualified teacher who:

• enjoys working with students in a diverse, international community;
• has experience with the IB MYP, or a strong Science background and an eagerness to learn;
• connects with the philosophy and inquiry-based approach of the MYP;
• is highly proficient in English, a knowledge of Dutch is not essential for this role.

What do we offer you in return?

• This position is classified in salary scale LB. Your gross monthly salary will be between €3,622.00 and €5,520.00, based on full-time employment. Your exact salary will be determined based on your level of education and relevant work experience.
• You will receive a fixed-term contract for 0.3–0.4 FTE.
• Your holidays coincide with the school holidays, so you will be off when the students are on holiday. Based on full-time employment, you are entitled to 60 days of annual leave per year. In addition, you will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus (13th month) of 8.33%.
• An excellent pension scheme! Dunamare Education covers 70% of the contributions to the ABP pension scheme.
• You will receive a fixed annual expense allowance of €75 (paid once a year in November, pro rata based on your FTE).
