TL;DR: Experienced (mid-level or senior) Python software developer with a passion for complex data pipelines and open source software wanted. For the mid-level position, at least 4 years of Python development experience is required; for the senior position, at least 6 years. You will work on robust ETL pipelines for our clients. We are explicitly looking for someone with more than just programming experience: unit tests, integration tests, quality assurance. You write solid, robust code that keeps working. You will work in a small organisation in Utrecht in a team of three (junior, mid-level and senior) + you.
Note: you need to currently live in the Netherlands to apply for this job. Your application will be rejected if you don't meet this criteria.
Datalab helps organisations get more value out of their data. The first step is to make data accessible from the various applications that customers use, for example from a REST API or an existing database. Your role is to develop stable, reliable and reusable data pipelines in Python that write data from the source to the customer’s data warehouse. You discuss requirements with the customer, write robust code (together with three colleagues at junior, mid-level and senior level). You also coordinate with your colleagues in the business intelligence team (who develop data products such as dashboards and analytical models for the same customers).
In addition to work for our clients, you help make our own setup more robust. Think of contributing new insights in areas such as unit testing and monitoring of data pipelines, or (further) developing our base packages for things like authentication (OAuth).
If you bring the following, that’s great — if not, you can learn it on the job:

Growth opportunities
We are currently recruiting for a mid-level and/or senior candidate. If you join as mid-level, we can quickly create a growth path to senior level.
In terms of content, you can also grow into a combined role of Python developer and data analyst. This means that you not only work on the “front” of the data process (i.e. making data available in a data warehouse), but also on the “back end”: developing, for example, machine learning models based on customer data. Think of forecasting analyses for a webshop or genomics analytics for our customers in the bio and biomedical industries.
About Datalab and our clients
Datalab helps clients get value from their data. Our clients come from many different sectors: retailers, accountancy firms, non-profit organisations and various government agencies. Our services go far beyond setting up the data warehouse: Datalab ensures that clients actually can and want to work with data, through training, setting up analyses and providing necessary support. Your role is therefore broad and diverse.
We are independent of software and cloud vendors and can therefore make our own decisions at Datalab. The interests of the client come first, not those of vendors or cloud providers with their point-and-click solutions. We prefer to work with open source software that runs on all clouds and on-premises environments.
