Job summary

VPInstruments in the Netherlands is seeking a Medior Mechanical Design Engineer to develop the next generation of sensor technology for high‑precision instruments used in demanding industrial environments.

You will own the product from concept to production, collaborate with R&D, perform testing, and work with suppliers to industrialize designs. Fluency in English is required; Dutch is a plus. The role offers a hybrid Delft‑based setup with 32–40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in technical or industrial instrumentation.
• Solid knowledge of SolidWorks for parts, assemblies and drawings.
• Experience with DFM/DFA, tolerancing and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on testing setups and data interpretation.
• Good basics in electronics, software, and physics and cross‑disciplinary teamwork.
• Experience with technical documentation and engineering change processes.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
• Availability for 32–40 hours per week; willing to live within 30 km of Delft.

Responsibilities

• Develop the next generation of sensor technology for high‑precision instruments.
• Turn complex challenges into manufacturable mechanical designs from concept to production.
• Prototype, test, and document results with rigorous testing (IP, CE, flow, pressure, thermal).
• Collaborate with R&D and suppliers to realise best technical solutions.
• Contribute to production engineering and scale-up efforts.
